Berry’s early days are an historian’s delight. Dating back to the early 1800’s, for example, Coolangatta Estate (est 1822) became the site of the first European settlement on the south coast of NSW, Coolangatta taking its name from an Aboriginal word meaning “splendid view/good lookout”. The Berry Museum (circ.1884) is a good starting point for exploring Berry’s rich past.
